How to Tell if Your Electrician is Actually Licensed in Maryland
Maryland requires Master Electrician licensing for service work. Here's how to verify before you hire.
Hiring an unlicensed electrician is the fastest way to lose your insurance, fail inspection, and pay twice. Here's how to verify in 30 seconds.
1. Ask for the license number
Every Maryland Master Electrician has a number. We're happy to give it. If they hesitate — walk away.
2. Verify on the state site
Go to the Maryland Department of Labor licensing portal and search by name or license number. Takes 30 seconds.
3. Confirm insurance
Ask for a current Certificate of Insurance (COI) — at least $1M general liability. We carry $2M.
