Do I Need a Permit for Electrical Work in Baltimore?
When Baltimore City and county permits are required, when they aren't, and what happens if you skip them.
Short answer: almost always yes. Here's the long version.
Always requires a permit
- Panel replacements or upgrades
- New circuits (EV chargers, range, dryer, A/C)
- Service entrance work
- Anything outside the existing wall
Doesn't require a permit
- Replacing an outlet or switch in the same box
- Replacing a light fixture (same circuit)
- Replacing a breaker with the same amperage
Warning
Skipping a permit can void your homeowners insurance and create a problem when you sell. Always permit panel and circuit work.
We pull every permit and handle every inspection. It's included in the quote.
